CONVENTION UPDATE
Ta da! A Convention announcement!
We just signed the papers and we thank you for your prayers as we worked on moving, well, a whole lotta details in just a few days.
Drum roll #1: The Gaylord Palms in Kissimmee, FL (Orlando area) was able to welcome us (in the midst of many conventions needing to move).
Drum roll #2: We're able to keep the registration fees the same, so some of you might decide to come early or stay late, and enjoy the Orlando amenities with your friends (or family).
And thanks for all the great ideas of cities! You helped our future dreaming. 'Twould be fun!
And again, it will be great because of Who we'll be with: "Where(ver) two or three (thousand) are gathered in my name, there am I with them." (Mt. 18:20, our year's theme verse with my additions).

Convention Details:
The MOPS International Convention will be at the Gaylord Palms, Kissimmee, FL (Orlando area). Dates will be the same, August 5-7, 2010. Speakers and artists will be the same great lineup — Julie Barnhill, Margaret Feinberg, Donald Miller, Naomi Cramer Overton, Shelly Radic, Go Fish, Mandisa, The Katinas and Richie McDonald.
Convention registration will re-open on Monday, May 17.
The early bird registration deadline will be extended to June 7.
We are working with the Gaylord Opryland for an official letter we can provide to anyone who has already purchased airline tickets to use with airlines to avoid rebooking fees. This letter should assist you in rebooking airline tickets — it will be posted online at www.MOPS.org/convention.
We continue to pray for families and businesses affected by the flooding and we have sent MOPS materials to local MOPS leaders who are distributing supplies in the Nashville area.

Hi Leaders,One of the biggest challenges I have faced in my MOPS groups is recruiting MOPPETS helpers. Sometimes we need to change the way we ask for help. I've used the flyer below with different churches and it brought fruit. We need to present MOPPETS as the ministry opportunity it truly is. Where else can local men and women be missionaries without leaving home. The love, care and message of Christ will be forming how these young children will view the church. I am praying that you will be blessed to have a fully staffed MOPPETS program for this coming year. Please share your success at recruit MOPPETS workers with us by clicking on comments. You don't need to log-in, you can leave your idea as an anonymous user. For our purposes, please let us know which MOPS group you are from.Blessings,Joyfully,

We have had zero success with advertising in the paper, church newsletters, etc. The only two ways we have found MOPPETS workers is either by personal contact - asking someone we know one-on-one, or by calling the local college and asking for students who need volunteer hours for service projects. Unfortunately, the students are extremely unreliable and I don't know if we will take that route again.
This year we had the idea to ask another MOPS group to partner with us, and ask their steering team to help us on days we are short-handed if we will help them in the same way.
I have found that going to the Christian organizations on Campus brought us much more reliable help. You may want to look for Navigators or Campus Crusade for Christ at colleges.
Another source for MOPPETS help may be your local senior citizens group. Many of these older folks (men and women) would love some time with a youngster because their own grandchildren live far away.
You may ask each of your MOPS moms to recruit one helper.
Check your Chartering Churches guidelines for who can work in children's ministry. More and more churches are requiring backround checks.
Lastly, really pray...I have found this is the most effective way to get MOPPETS workers. After a Steering prayer meeting focused on our MOPPPETS program several people called to volunteer without my prompting...God prompted them. : )

Dear Barb, Thanks for the great tips. We also host a breakfast for the MOPPETS to cover issues and give out prayer concerns and let them know the needs of MOPS that year. They love it and other people hear about it and want to get involved. Thanks again for the info!
Blessings
